Often when I am at a social event with people I am meeting for the first time, the conversation migrates to, “What do you do?” When I answer I am a court reporter, I am sometimes asked, “Do they still have those? Isn’t that antiquated? Why don’t they use digital recording technology?”

When I Post on Facebook, In My mind’s Eye I See an Exhibit Sticker

Having seen Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter printouts pulled out in depositions and entered as exhibits (more often than not with embarrassing consequences), I was admittedly skeptical about having an online social media presence. As a court reporter, every time I see a post, I envision that post with an exhibit sticker on it and used in a deposition.
